I have three credit cards, each having a credit limit around ,000. One is a no interest til May 2007, my balance on this card is roughly 13,000. My other card has around 10,000. I just finished paying off my third credit. My 3rd card is the longest existing credit card i have. Should I go ahead and close it out, or keep it. Will it affect my credit rating, if I close it. Meaning, will my credit score go up or down? I have a new job with a good salary, I should be able to cut my debt in half this year alone. But, I guess what I really want to know is if closing a credit card with a 15,000 limit have a negative affect on my credit score? Thank you.

What You Need To Know Before You Make an application for Credit Card

Credit has become a part of life. Few people do not have at least one credit card, and the average American has a number of. To increase your probabilities of obtaining approved, you will find a few things you should know before you make an application for credit card provides.

Very first of all, answer every question about the application. Omitting information such as income or length of time at your existing residence can result in a delay or outright rejection of your application. And answer honestly, since it is really a relatively easy matter for the company to verify your information. Deliberate misinformation can be construed as attempting to acquire credit under false pretenses, or fraud, and is illegal. Although couple of instances are prosecuted for minor infractions, the reason for denial can end up on your credit report. This can lead to difficulties obtaining credit within the future.

Next, read the questions carefully and respond with the info asked in its entirety. For example, if asked for the complete income of your household, include the income of everyone in the house. Do not forget to include sources of income other than salary, such as structured settlement payments you receive. And when questioned about your commitments, list all of your debts too.

Lastly, be selective in your applications. Don't fill out a lot of credit applications in a short period of time. Occasionally the application will ask about your applications, but most often the company merely gets the info from your credit report. Excessive applications are viewed as a red flag. It isn't unknown for unscrupulous people to apply for several accounts after which file bankruptcy as soon as they have charged everything to its limit. More frequently, it is not deliberate. Individuals fail to think about how much they will need to spend on their new accounts and discover their debt is out of control. Either way, credit card companies do not like to see several credit requests throughout the past Finally, do not go on a credit card application binge. Applying for as well many various cards can cause your application to be rejected. When the company receives your credit report, they'll be able to determine how many credit applications you have submitted. Creditors do not like to see this for two factors. The first is that on occasion this is a deliberate attempt at fraud. Consumers can receive several cards, make charges as far as their limits allow, after which seek bankruptcy protection. Even innocent consumers who receive as well much credit as well rapidly can rapidly discover themselves in trouble. The payments suddenly come due all at as soon as, and if they have not planned accordingly, they discover themselves unable to

companies will frequently reject applications if there are as well many other applications for credit in a short time time period. months.

Credit cards can expedite online purchases and may be invaluable within the event of an emergency. It's nearly not possible to rent a car or book guaranteed reservations at many hotels. When used prudently, they are able to help you over a financial rough spot.

But credit cars should be utilized wisely. To optimize your chance of being approved for one, remember to fill in every room on the application. Answer all queries and do so honestly. Do not apply for too many charge accounts in as well brief a time period of time. Consider how you're going to pay the bill prior to you apply for any credit card. And maintain in mind that your actions today determine your credit for the next seven years.

I am not a US citizen; I am a civil engineer from abroad; I have a green card since end of 2005; Accepted my first position in the US last january 2006 with 45K salary. Presently I am in a 60K position. I have a bank account in the US since 2003 and 2 saving accounts since 2006 (totalling more than 15K). My real question is: how can I have a sufficient credit history if all my credit card applications (even from SEARS) are denied for that lack of sufficient credit history?

History: This person applied for home mortgage loan 7 months ago. At that time he did not have any liabilities/loans and had funds in his bank account too.

Bank went through loan approval process and approved this person for several types of loans (80/20, 80/15/5, etc) after looking into salary, bank statements, etc. This person went ahead and signed a contract with builder to build a new house.

Things have changed and now this person does not have money to make even 5% down and still wants to proceed with home purchse since there are enough credit card balance transfer offers he can use to make 5% or even 20% down without a problem.

I guess my question is would bank have any issues with down payment using credit card balance transfer? Is there a possibility bank would know this person ows money to a credit card company (if not timed properly since they are going to run a credit report again)? Has anybody done it before? any legal issues with this approach?

Thanks!
