Steak n shake is going to start charging their servers for their credit card tips by taking 2.5% of our tips that are left on credit cards to cover the charges that the company pays when customers pay with credit cards. It doesn't seem right or legal to me especially when customers are going to pay for their meals with a card tip or not. Does anyone know if it is legal? In a few days we will only be getting 97.5% of the tips that people leave us on credit.

I have a Chase credit card. I paid my balance in full last month. Now this month, I get a statement saying I owe one dollar. I made no purchases between last month and this month and I paid the balance in full. Yet, they are saying I owe one dollar.
I called and the man told me that even if you start out with a zero balance, you then make a purchase of say 300 bucks, you get the statement, you pay it on time and in full (300 bucks), you will still get a statement the next month saying you owe the one dollar finance charge.
Have you ever heard of this?
This is crazy. If you pay the balance in full and on time, you should not have to pay any finance charge.
Tomk,
I see what you mean about the few days but that is why they call it a grace period.
I should also add that the man from Chase agreed to remove the dollar charge but he said it was a one-time thing. I just won't use this card anymore.
Clarification: he said that removing the dollar charge was a one-time thing and that they won't remove it again.

Do you understand what the real benefits of a cash loan are? For lots of individuals cash loans do not have any benefit because they think cash loans all contain extremely high interest rates, and that isn’t true . Many cash loans such as cash advance loans or payday advance loans are good and have a big benefit to everyone that utilizes them. The only real reason to use a cash advance loan is to get cash in between paychecks to pay for something or to pay for an emergency when you have no other means to pay for it. The greatest advantage that a cash advance loan has is the fact that you don’t need to have your credit checked in order to get one, all they require is for the borrow to be 18 years old or older and have a steady income .

The biggest benefit of cash advance loans is that you receive the money you need when you need it the most. With a personal loan they can take as much as few days to be accepted for the loan and if you have an emergency a couple days is too long to wait. The most common reason people get cash advance loans is normally because they blow through their paycheck too fast and need cash to either live or for non essential items. With close to 70% of individuals living paycheck to paycheck it’s no wonder these loans have become extremely popular over the years.

Another benefit that lots of people don’t know about cash advance loans is they can go on longer than the normal 4 week loan period. All you have to do to get a loan for longer than the typical time is just wait until your loan is due and then get another loan from the same lender to cover that loan. This is a simple strategy that anyone can use, but be careful because this strategy can get you into big trouble of you don’t watch what you are doing.

I just ripped up ten new offers for credit cards. I get at least one every few days and I'm tired of it. How do I make them stop?

On a related note, how do I get the companies that I actually hold a credit card with to stop sending me blank checks that I can fill out to draw cash from my account? No thanks, I don't need the high interest rates! I get those every few days too.
The checks aren't with my statements...well OK I do get blank checks with my statements. But I also get mail from my credit card companies with just the checks and a letter that basically comes to, "HI WE DON'T MAKE ENOUGH $$ FROM YOU, DO SOMETHING STUPID AND USE THESE CHECKS PLS KTHXBAI."

I hate them. I guess I should just call the companies but every time I do they just try to sell me insurance and other stuff because I don't carry a balance and they want my money.

I have a credit card right now and no balance at all (clean) - but it has an annual fee (Bank of America). Bank of America upgraded my credit card with no annual fee just few days ago (but I never activated it yet). But then, I just received a better offer from another credit company. My question is: If I close my Bank of America credit card with annual fee, it will be negative on my credit points? I just paid my annual fee 3 months ago and I'm still using my old BOA credit card. So if I close my BOA card, I have to pay for my 3 months of usage instead of 12 months? Thanks!

I know that when I pay with a credit card at Giant, I'm given an option that says "Cash Back?". I never clicked Yes before, but a few days ago I tried to get cash back using my credit card at Weis, another food store. It wouldn't give me cash back, and the cashier said it was probably because I was using a credit card instead of a debit card. This confuses me because my mom has gotten cash back before and she almost never uses debit. So why can't I use the cash back option?

Notes: We both have Discover Cards. I was given permission to use this option, I just can't figure out how.

I'm currently working on a documentary that exposes the bait and switch business that is H&R Block. Please share your experiences if you have had 3 or more of these things happen in this order. Also, if you are distraught by any other injustice caused by H&R Block, feel free to use this post to vent your frustration. I FEEL your pain!
a) Denial of an Emerald Advance that lead to you making a future appointment with H&R
b) Denial of an instant RAL at that future appointment accompanied by an approval for the 1-2 day RAL
c) Mislead into believing 1-2 days meant 1-2 days until you call on it and you're told that it will be there in another few days
d) You call again because you still have no money and they say that you were now DENIED for the 1-2 day (really 4-5) and it can take up to 15 days, which is really closer to 18
e) You receive an 800 number that creates more heartache and confusion than existed in the first place
