Credit card application denied because they "cannot verify identity"?
I was recently denied a credit card at Wal-mart. I wasn't sure why since I have fairly good credit. I just received a letter in the mail explaining I was denied because they "cannot verify" my identity. What does this mean? Any help with this would be appreciated

Try to check. It is easy to fix.
They can’t prove you are who you say you are. One of the best things to do is to send a photocopy of your driver’s license, or your social security card, or birth certificate.

The letter should provide either a phone number or an address to contact the company with questions concerning the decline. Call or write to see what proof they will require to continue processing. Unable to verify identity could be many different things… They may have not been able to pull a credit file with the information you’d given them, they may have received conflicting information from the credit bureau, or they may suspect possible identity theft or fraud.
