How do I stop receiving offers for new credit cards through the mail?

I just ripped up ten new offers for credit cards. I get at least one every few days and I'm tired of it. How do I make them stop?

On a related note, how do I get the companies that I actually hold a credit card with to stop sending me blank checks that I can fill out to draw cash from my account? No thanks, I don't need the high interest rates! I get those every few days too.
The checks aren't with my statements...well OK I do get blank checks with my statements. But I also get mail from my credit card companies with just the checks and a letter that basically comes to, "HI WE DON'T MAKE ENOUGH $$ FROM YOU, DO SOMETHING STUPID AND USE THESE CHECKS PLS KTHXBAI."

I hate them. I guess I should just call the companies but every time I do they just try to sell me insurance and other stuff because I don't carry a balance and they want my money.

You can opt out of receiving prescreened credit card offers in the mail. You can either call an 800 number or do it online.

Call Opt Out toll free @ 1 888 567 8688. As for the credit cards you deal with, there is no way to stop them from sending blank checks since it comes with your statement.

I had a chat with my local postal supervisor and you can turn in a request with them not to forward junk mail to you. They don’t like it because the advertiser pays for the mailing, but yes, you can stop the garbage if you give the post office the mailing address where the crap originates from.
