I got a free credit card application with the card attached and a charge of $249.00.I tore it up, why do i owe

I seen an ad on tv for a free credit card application. When I got the application the card was attached.I read the form and seen a charge of 9.00 for the attached card. I called the card company and told them I tore the application up and didn't wish to apply. They in turn put a bad mark on my credit history. Was I slammed by this credit card company? Can I sue them for this?

If you never used or activated the card you never got service from them. You do not have to pay for services you never received. Contact the company again and tell them that and that they need to remove it from your report. Make sure they understand that you never used the card and didn’t want it. They can’t make you pay for something you don’t have.
