It really depends on the Employer. Some demand that a prospective employee pass all elements of their selection criteria. Most do not. Having worked in Human Resources and Recruiting for a while, If the hiring manager wants someone on their team, they usually got them. It really depends on the companies policies and how badly they need someone to fill the position.
Bad credit does not last forever….and in 2 years your credit score will start to rebound. In the interim, you may be stuck with lower paying service jobs….
It’s important to not have any more defaults or late pays..as those event will create a brand new cycle of bad credit that will last at least 2 years. Pay any existing bills on time.
I would be honest with your employer from the start. do not wait for them to run a credit check but tell them that you have a poor credit rating and that you hope to remedy it through working hard and paying some of your debts off. If they are the sort of people that one would want to work for and have a good relationship with their employees then this would probably do the trick.
You statement "no one will give you a job because of your bad credit score" is false. Not all employers look at credit scores. Only the ones who know your credit score can deny you a job based on your credit score.
What you do is to apply for a job from an employer who does not look at credit scores.
